Potatoes imported by Georgia set to almost double by 2023

According to Gruzstat, the country imported 23,210 tonnes of potatoes worth $7.7 million in 2023, compared to 11,169 tonnes worth $4.1 million in 2022.

 

Germany was the main source of potato imports in 2022, with 1,224 tonnes worth $1.1 million. This is followed by Russia with 3,749 tonnes worth $1 million and Belarus with 2,728 tonnes worth $750,290.

 

In 2023, the composition of the top three importing countries remains unchanged, although Russia and Belarus show quantitative and monetary growth. Specifically, in 2023, 8,435 tonnes of potatoes worth $2.2 million were imported from Russia, 8,050 tonnes worth $2.1 million from Belarus, and 1,160 tonnes worth $185,330 from Germany.
